Privacy Policy
Merge Online is designed so that all video and audio processing happens entirely in your browser. No media files are uploaded to our servers. This policy explains what limited data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Browser-Side Processing
Merge Online uses FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly (ffmpeg.wasm) to merge video and audio files directly in your browser. Your media files are never uploaded to our servers. All encoding, decoding, and muxing operations run locally on your device.
When using the remote URL mode, your browser fetches media through a CORS proxy. The proxy relays the data stream to your browser without storing or inspecting the media content. The merged result is saved directly to your device.
Information We Collect
We collect minimal information to operate and improve the service:
- Analytics data — We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics such as page views, browser type, operating system, approximate geographic region, and session duration. Google Analytics may set cookies on your device.
- Server logs — Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may automatically log IP addresses, request timestamps, and HTTP headers for security and performance purposes.
- Local storage — We use your browser's
localStorageto save form state (video URL, audio URL, output filename, and a timestamp) so your inputs persist across page reloads. This data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers. - Contact information — If you email us, we receive your email address and any information you choose to include.
CORS Proxy Data Flow
When you use the remote URL merge feature, your browser sends requests through our Cloudflare Workers-based CORS proxy. The proxy forwards the request to the third-party media server and streams the response back to your browser. The proxy does not store, cache, or analyze the media content. Standard Cloudflare operational logs may temporarily record request metadata (URL, timestamp, IP).
Cookies
Merge Online itself does not set cookies. However, Google Analytics may place cookies (such as _ga and _gid) to distinguish unique visitors and track sessions. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the
Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
or by configuring your browser to block third-party cookies.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party services to deliver and operate Merge Online:
- Cloudflare Pages — Static site hosting and CDN delivery.
- Cloudflare Workers — CORS proxy for remote media requests.
- Google Analytics — Anonymous usage analytics and reporting.
- Google Fonts — Web font delivery (Manrope, Space Mono).
Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their respective policies for details on how they handle data.
Children's Privacy
Merge Online is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the service and any data we process. However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
